Coloured Concrete in Albury–Wodonga

Coloured concrete is the smart middle ground between plain grey and exposed aggregate: oxide pigment is batched through the entire mix at the plant, so the colour runs the full depth of the slab. It can't peel, can't flake and can't wear through — because it isn't a coating, it IS the concrete. A big visual lift for a modest step up in price, done properly the first time.

Colour that's part of the slab, not painted on

Because the pigment goes into the mix itself, the colour is as permanent as the concrete. Charcoal is the regional favourite — it sharpens up almost any home instantly — but creams, sandstones and soft greys all look superb against brick, cladding and landscaping. UV-stable mineral oxides mean the colour is there for the life of the slab.

Coloured concrete pairs with any finish we pour: a smooth trowel for that clean modern look, broom finish for grip, or as the base tone in a part-exposed design. A penetrating sealer is well worth adding — it deepens the colour and makes the surface even easier to keep clean.

Honest advice about natural variation

We'd rather tell you up front: concrete is a natural, site-made material, and slight tonal movement between batches and across a slab is part of its character — it's what makes it read like stone rather than plastic. Doing it by the book means pouring connected areas together wherever possible so the colour stays consistent where it matters most.

Common questions

Will the colour fade?

Oxide pigments are UV-stable minerals, so the colour can't peel or wear off the way a coating does. Like anything that lives outdoors it mellows very slightly over years of sun and washing — a re-seal brings the depth right back.

Coloured or exposed aggregate — which should I pick?

It comes down to budget and the look you're after. Coloured concrete gives you a clean, uniform modern tone for less than exposed aggregate; exposed gives you texture and real stone character at a premium. Plenty of our favourite jobs combine both — say a charcoal driveway with an exposed border. We'll quote the options so you can decide.
